At our museum you will find many exiting things to see and discover, and if you are here during the summer you can meet the animals at the farm, and you can take a look at all the old and newer houses, and of course you can take a stroll inside the main museum and look at all the exhibitions here.
Here on this page you can find a few photo albums that show just a little bit of what’s going on at our museum…
The Melheim house was built in the winter of 1939-1940 on the farm Melheim at Indre Hafslo in Luster. It is a so-called central chimney house. It was built with one-and-a-half storeys on a cellar with a stone foundation wall. With pipes leading into the central chimney, the house was heated by means of wood stoves in all the rooms.
The building is a mixture of the Swiss and the Art Nouveau styles.
The interior decoration is based on statistical information how an average family in Sogn lived around 1940.
The house "Stella" represent our own time. The idea is to preserve a typical home of the late 20th. century for generations to come.
Normal practice at museums is to collect whole houses, furniture and other implements after they have gone out of use or become antiques. Here, a different approach has been chosen.
The museum have found an actual home in Sogn, which has been cataloged in every detail. The exhibit consist of similar objects, but most are bought new from local shops.
